Frequently Asked Questions

What is ozone and how does it sanitize a space?

Ozone (O₃) is a powerful natural molecule that neutralizes odors, bacteria, viruses, mold, and allergens at the molecular level. It works by oxidizing contaminants, breaking them down into harmless substances. Once the process is complete, ozone naturally reverts back into oxygen — leaving no chemical residue behind.

What is ozonated water and why do you use it?

We use freshly ozonated distilled water to wipe down key surfaces at the beginning of each service. Distilled water prevents spots or residue, while the ozone infusion kills bacteria, viruses, and mold on contact. The result is a sanitized, streak-free, and chemical-free finish that leaves behind only pure oxygen and water.

What does the HEPA + carbon air scrubber do?

Our professional air scrubber combines True HEPA filtration — capturing 99.97% of airborne particulates such as dust, pollen, smoke, and mold spores — with an activated carbon filter that absorbs odors, chemical fumes, and harmful VOCs (volatile organic compounds). Together, they deliver noticeably cleaner, fresher indoor air.

What does UV-C light do?

UV-C light is a powerful, natural disinfecting technology that uses short-wavelength ultraviolet energy (200–280 nm) to destroy microorganisms at their core. When bacteria, viruses, mold, or allergens are exposed to UV-C light, the energy penetrates their cell walls and breaks apart their DNA or RNA. Without intact genetic material, they can’t reproduce or survive, leaving your air and surfaces sanitized at the molecular level. It’s a proven, chemical-free disinfection method that hospitals and healthcare facilities have relied on for decades.

Is ozone safe for people, pets, and plants?

Yes — when used correctly. Ozone is highly effective but must only be applied in unoccupied spaces. After treatment and ventilation, it reverts back to pure oxygen, making the space completely safe for people, pets, and plants to return.

Do I need to leave the property during service?

Yes. During ozone treatments, all people, pets, and plants must leave the property for safety.

How long does a typical service take?

Most residential and small business treatments are completed in 3-4 hours, depending on the size of the space and level of treatment needed. Larger commercial properties may require additional time.

Will your service remove tough odors like smoke, pets, or mold?

Absolutely. Ozone, UV-C light, and HEPA + carbon filtration don’t just cover up odors — they neutralize them at the source. Smoke, pet odors, mold, mildew, and cooking smells are broken down at the molecular level, leaving your space fresh and truly clean.

Is there any residue or chemical smell after the treatment?

No. Our process uses no harsh chemicals. After treatment and proper ventilation, the only thing left behind is clean, fresh air — without perfumes, residues, or chemical after-smells. Ozone will leave a crisp, clean smell like after a thunder storm.

How often should I have my home or business treated?

It depends on your needs. Some clients schedule on-demand treatments (after a move, rental turnover, or odor problem), while others choose monthly, quarterly, or bi-annual services for ongoing protection — especially in commercial or high-traffic spaces.

What industries use the same technologies Coastal Pure Air uses?
